new (gourmet) burger restaurant in far east square. only a month old. opened by an australian.
whether you're eating it in or to go, everything comes in an environmentally friendly brown paper bag.
one thing about them: bergs's veggie burger menu is a bit too similar to that of burgerfuel's, another aussie burger joint. coincidence? you make the call.
good falla. "Falafel, Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Chilli, Aioli & Lemon Yoghurt." $10.50 (small). voted favourite veggie burger by the staff. YAY to avocado but where was the lemon yoghurt?
krakatoa. "Tofu, Spicy Satay Sauce, Coriander Pesto, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Cucumber & Aioli." $10.50 (small). voted favourite veggie burger by me and meltee. the tofu patty though mixed with some chickpea was still limp by the time we got to it. this was rather weird because we were the only customers in the restaurant. not even warm and already slightly soggy?!?! sad. the spicy satay sauce and coriander pesto did it for us though.
the burgers were, at best, forgettable. the worst problem were the buns. sad, sliced-too-thin, unhappy white buns! alright i know burger buns are supposed to be your unhealthy white stuff -- at least they got that one thing right -- but this bun was unfit for it's burger destiny. it was so thin that the condiments seeped through and the bun sort of tore halfway through each burger. poor bun, poor burger.
the good: the aioli is out of this world. the garlic aftertaste lasted throughout the afternoon until i got home in the evening. mmmmm. garliccccc. many apologies to those within 5 metre radius of me. i could not help it.
